I met Linsey this past week when her mother asked me to photograph their family at the beach in Corolla, on the Outer Banks. Linsey, a recent high school graduate, looks like an exotic beauty with her lovely skin tone and her gorgeous black curly hair.  She came to her session in a flowy, flirty beach dress and just the right amount of jewelry to make a dramatic impact.

An OBX senior session

Fashion photography is one of my passions. If you have seen any of my trash the dress photographs you will get an idea of my style. After taking a couple of shots at the edge of the water we moved to the shade on the steps that lead from the beach over the sand dunes.  With minimal directing, she seemed to understand how to pose, how to tilt her head and the exact right away to hold her hands so they looked expressive.

We then set up for some shots in the sun. While we did get some nice shots, the sun was a bit strong.  All in all, the best shots were definitely on the steps in the shade.

As a photographer, I love it when I come across someone that is so photogenic that I could photograph them forever, and for FREE. Well, maybe not forever, and maybe not for free, but I was ecstatic when I sat down and began looking at the photos from the session. I couldn’t wait for Linsey and her mom to see them. The images are simply breathtaking! I can’t wait to photograph her again next year!

Linsey, I don’t know what your career goals are but you could definitely make a splash in modeling!

 Last week I was called by a writer who has written a novel that is a romance surrounding the daughter of “The Gentleman Pirate” Stede Bonnet.  The story has a supernatural twist that many will find enticing.

The writer was looking for an Outer Banks Photographer to capture the aura and allure of Bonnet’s daughter and the mysterious necklace that was part of Bonnet’s lost treasure.

Customized Holiday Cards for the 2010 Season

Yes, it’s that time again. Time to order your holiday cards, make your gift lists, plan your holiday parties and shop, shop, shop till you drop. This year I have an expanded list of holiday card designs that are customizable with photos from your portrait session with Shelley Chamberlin Photography during your trip to the Outer Banks. Other customizable items on the cards are the greeting itself. If you have a favorite verse or greeting that you would prefer on your cards, just email me the text. If you want Hanukkah cards, I can change the Christmas greeting to a selection of verses of your choice.

Our new selections include Flat (2 sided full color), Folded, Wide Folded and Accordion Style. A new feature this year is a CD hub that can be afixed to the inside of your card, where you may include your own CD of holiday music or family photos that you have collected to share with your family and friends throughout the year.

Many families choose to send a newsletter in their holiday cards, letting everybody know what has happened with the family throughout the past year. Why not make this part of your holiday card design. Send me the text and it will be printed on the inside of your card. Of course space is limited so you will have to limit the length of your letter. A sample will be emailed to you prior to the card order going to press, so that you can see how it will look, and choose to make any improvements or changes at that time.

These cards are available in sets of 25 for $125 per set plus shipping and handling. The deadline to order holiday cards in time for Christmas delivery is December 15th. If you will be making changes to text or adding a family newsletter, please add 10 days to the delivery date. Orders will be drop shipped directly to you from my printing company to avoid further shipping delays. These orders arrive via Federal Express.
